Our July/August Crazy Cook is Lynn from Tacoma, WA
Note from Nanci: This story was so funny to me because I was just
explaining to someone the cooking day phenomenon of planning to eat out
that night even though you have a freezer full of perfectly good food.
My most memorable cooking day came with a surprise ending. I think that
it was the second cooking day I had tried (I've been freezer cooking for
about a year and a half now) One of my abiding principles about this
whole thing is that I think that at the end of the day we should go out
to eat. I don't want to see anything I just cooked on a plate that
day...this does pass. On this particular day my husband went to Red
Lobster for take out for us. (He is a good man) As we all gathered
around the table in anticipation of this feast, my husband opened the
first bag. It contained a dozen cheddar biscuits....that's funny, he
didn't order biscuits, well maybe they come with the meal. We opened the
second bag...it also contained a dozen cheddar biscuits. As we opened
each of the six bags, they all turned out to be biscuits. This was
pretty bizarre. We called the restaurant. Apparently someone else was
expecting biscuits and went home with our meal. It was a good thing,
after a long tiring day, that my husband was the one who called the
restaurant. I listened as he said calmly, "I can't possibly tell you how
frustrated we are feeling at this moment. What can you do for us?" The
restaurant refunded our purchase, gave us two free meal coupons, and we
got to keep the biscuits. I OF COURSE froze them and they made a very
nice addition to our freezer meals. We will never forget THAT cooking
day!
