A little about me...

I am a homeschooling mother of two, a pianist at my church, a piano instructor, and wife. I am also on the Board of a local homeschooling co-op, teach junior high Sunday School, and try to be a decent wife! As you can imagine, life before freezer cooking was sometimes very chaotic! As I tried to balance all of my different roles, dinner often got sidetracked until my husband got home from work. I would then either frantically try to get something edible on the table or just wait until he decided he was hungry enough to take us out. I decided that there had to be a better way!

I found out about freezer cooking through a homeschool message board. I at once caught the vision of having delicious, nutritious, economical meals filling my freezer, enabling me to escape what had become a hated chore. Freezer cooking has released me from my day-to-day cooking, allowing me to enjoy the times when I do choose to cook. It has helped draw me back into the heart of my home – my kitchen – without resentment. My children and husband appreciate the fact that I am calmer and they enjoy the meals, too!

I joined 30 Day Gourmet as a consultant because I wanted to help other people, especially mothers, bring their families back around the dinner table. Research has shown that teenagers who eat meals with their families 5 or more times a week are better adapted socially, academically, and emotionally than their peers, and are less likely to suffer from depression or delve into drugs. Freezer cooking allows us to enjoy the most important ingredient in any meal, conversation, without putting me under the constant pressure of having to spend large amounts of time in the kitchen preparing those meals.
