The History of 30 Day Gourmet


or how a couple of average moms hit on a great cooking plan and wrote a hot book about it

 

June 1993

Nanci and Tara tackle their first day of freezer cooking.

September 1994 Nanci and Tara are asked to speak about "that cooking thing they do" at an Indianapolis conference for 1300 moms. They begin writing a tip sheet and end up with a 20 page planner which they sell to their room capacity-plus crowds for $5 each.
September 1994

30 Day Gourmet, Inc. is born when a news reporter features the cooks on local Indianapolis television. Nanci takes over 300 calls to her home after the evening news and they begin filling orders out of a makeshift office in Nanci's parents' basement.

January 1995 The 30 Day Gourmets develop a 90 minute seminar that quickly becomes popular with libraries, church groups and women's organizations throughout the midwest. Three recipe packets are added to the product line.
April 1997 Nanci and Tara receive a call from the Home and Family Show inviting them to appear on their 2 hour cable television show airing on The Family Channel.
April 1997 30 Day Gourmet rents office space, runs 3 phone lines, hires a staff and acquires an 800 number, just in time for their 15 minute segment which airs LIVE with Cristina Ferrare on April 28, 1997.
May 1997 30 Day Gourmet takes 6000 phone calls and sells 2500 30 Day Gourmet Cooking Manuals in the first few weeks after the show airs.
May 1997  www.30daygourmet.com  is born.
June 1997 Hailing them as two of their "most popular guests", the Home and Family Show invites Nanci and Tara back for an entire week. Each day, they do a 5-7 minute segment and receive thousands of phone calls. Re-runs of the 6 Home and Family shows air throughout the summer.
December 1997 The 30 Day Gourmets are asked to appear on The Gayle King Show in Hartford, Connecticut.
December 31, 1997 30 Day Gourmet, Inc. has sold over 10,000 cookbooks.
January 1998 Nanci and Tara continue their speaking schedule averaging one seminar per week.
June 1998 Re-run of The Gayle King Show draws thousands of calls.
July 1998 The Freezer Cooking Manual is renamed, revised and bound in a spiral format.
August 1998  www.30daygourmet.com  is now averaging 1000 hits per month.
March 1999 Nanci and Tara tape a segment for The 700 Club in Virginia Beach, VA.
May 1999 The 30 Day Gourmets appear on HGTV's Smart Solutions show with Maty Monfort resulting in thousands of calls and book sales.
June 1999 New lay-flat paperback edition of The Freezer Cooking Manual from 30 Day Gourmet: A Month of Meals Made Easy is published with a print run of 10,000 copies.
July 1999  www.30daygourmet.com  now averaging 5000+ hits per month.
December 1999 30 Day Gourmet, Inc. has sold over 20,000 cookbooks.
February 2000 Nanci and Tara appear on The 700 Club and receive thousands of calls.
March 2000 Website now averaging 23,000 visitors per month with 225,000 hits in February.
October 2000 30 Day Gourmet's Free eNewsletter Chewin' the News is launched.
August 2001 Good Housekeeping magazine recommends www.30daygourmet.com for great freezer cooking info.
