Software Help - Quantity Changes on Recipe?

The recipes print just like they are stored. To get a double recipe printed, use the "scale" feature on the recipe tab to create a "double" version of the recipe.

Email me at software @30daygourmet.com if there are any more questions.

Hi I'm new to freezer cooking and this softare. My question is regarding the recipes for cooking day. I want to make 2 each of the recipes I've selected. The grocery store checklist was great and perfect. However, when print the action report, browning ground beef isnt listed at all. Also, when I print the recipes, all of the quantities are for a single quantity. In the book it shows easy doubling and I thought the software would do the same. I did select 2 quantity for my cooking day

Am I doing something incorrectly? I can get by today just winging it but if I'm following the recipes I'd like to make sure I'm making enough of each thing to make the quantity that I want

Software Help - copying info without exporting

To have one cookbook that both computers update, the best way is to have shared storage, a shared directory on one computer or a NAS network attached storage drive. Or usb drive might work if you don't mind moving it back and forth. Another option might be dropbox if both computers are on the internet.

But whatever option you choose, you need to use the cookbook manager, a separate program that comes with Advantage cooking but is not published on the start menu. It will allow a cookbook to be defined besides the one that is installed.

Let me know if you need more information about any of these options.

hi, i have a question about using this software on both my lap and desk top.

I understand you can export the recipes into files, and just copy that, but I would like both programs to have the same additional info....
Example, all the info I put into the grocery stores section.

Do I have to go to the second program and individually add each ingredient and aisle and price over again, or can I copy everything I added from the first program?

I also don't want to lose all the packaging changes and conversions, etc.

Will those copy automatically? I'm not very good with computers so am confused how to do this, or how to go about backing up everything above.

Also, will my same registration key I was emailed work on my second computer and i just redownload the program?

Entrees - Beef - Spaghetti Pie - how much frozen spinach?

Take a 10 oz. package of frozen spinach break it in half. Defrost it and drain it according to the instructions. If you are making 2 recipes, you would use a whole 10 oz. package.

For the cooked tomatoes - what don't they like about cooked diced tomatoes? If it's the "chunks" of tomatoes in the meal, you can try substituting crushed tomatoes instead. My son prefers recipes made this way. Or you could crush the tomatoes youself. Take the canned diced tomatoes and process them for a few seconds in the food processor to break up the chunks.

Original post:

In the spaghetti pie recipe it calls for 5 oz of frozen chopped spinach. Does a 10 oz pkg of frozen spinach egual 5 oz after thawing and squeezing out the water?
Also my family dislikes cooked tomatoes and the recipe and other recipes call for canned diced tomatoes. Is there substitute you can suggest that would work just as well?

Software Help - Filters and Cooking Days

I think this post went into cyberspace!!
Hopefully I have not duplicated

OK so by using those filtering methods I now know I can "tag" my recipes in the instructions ie: Family Favorite and then search the instructions using %Family Favorite% to refine the recipes to select for my cooking day ( though I have noticed that the search is case sensitive ! )

To solve the problem of the dissapearing recipes would it be possible to add a check box in the Cooking Day/Recipe Selector to "add to existing cooking day " that way I have the option to remove whats there and add new OR add to what is already there ( from the filtered items).

This means I could search for Chicken Entrees add them to a new cooking day, the do another search for instructions/%family Favorites% + Recipes/beef and then choose from just what I know my family loves in the beef section to my exsiting Chicken cooking day.

To solve the problem of not seeing everything you already have in you selected cooking day when you have filters set would it also be possible to have a Filter - Toggle check box as well in the Cooking Day /Recipe Selector screen so I could toggle my filter on and off, thus saving shutting down that screen going back to recipes turning off the filters then going back to the cooking day etc etc...I am sure you get the picture. Its not a perfect system but would make a good work around and would make it very fast if you had a tried and tested cooking day to "make a copy" then filter for say chicken ( as you know the supermarket will have chicken breasts on special this week ) and add in a few extra chicken meals to you existing loved cooking day taking advantage of the sale day and leaving the origional Cooking Day intact.
Thanks
Daneen
PS Sorry if I seem a bit "pushy " but I have Beta tested for a few different sotware applications ( never cooking software ) and am used to trying to force softare "appications" MY way and usually there is a work round most things ( ie: the % family favorte % Tagging) I have used Mastercook for more than 10 years and am a avid cook and recipe collector, I will end up with about 600 recipes in this software (obviously not all freezer cooking but I like to have a copy of everything in the one place and am willing to take the time to get them all into this software ) it would take forever to search thru my recipes to add to a cooking day of all 600 show up in the recipe selector without useful filters.
You have a great product here I can really see that it will have a much better application for my Freezer cooking days than Mastercook ever did.
Please feel free to contact me of list should you need me to explain things better. PS As a computer literate "end user" I have no programming experience so I have no idea how easy or hard this would be to apply to Advantage cooking ! ... sorry.....lol

I would like to filter my recipes for say "Beef Entrees" add in the beef meals to my cooking Day then filter for Chicken meals and ADD those to the same Cooking Day, when I do this it takes away all the beef meals that I had already selected. I have added all the BBFC recipes but I want to add in about 500 Mastercook recipes that I want to put in catagories like "Daneens Beef Meals" & "Daneens Chicken Meals " I want to be able to seperate from the BBFC recipes and then I want to be able to add meals from each componet to my cooking day. If this is not possible ( though it is fairly simple ) is it possible to Merge two Cooking Days, I expect to end up with over 600 recipes and I want to be able to filter them then make it an easy add to my Cookin Day
Thanks
Daneen
PS Can you please also explain the filter for instructions I thought I may be able to filter for the word Mastercook in the instructions but I get no results ?

OK so by using those filtering methods I now know I can "tag" my recipes in the instructions ie: Family Favorite and then search using the Search/ Instructions for % Family Favorite % ( though I have noticed that it is even case sensitive )
Would it be possible to add a check box in the Recipe selector section to say "Add to exsiting Cooking Day" and maybe that way if we do a filter for Beef in recipes or even beef + family favorites I can then add it to my already selected Chicken recipes that I have in my cooking day. This would also alow me to have a set of basic cooking days make a copy of them do a refined search and then very quickly add or remove a few recipes to fine tune a new Cooking Day.
Another plus would be a toggle in the Recipe Selection box to toggle filters on and off so you could filter recipes go and add the recipes then if you wanted to see all the recipes ( once you added your filtered itmes ) you could toggle the filter off ( from that screen without having to close that box, go make to recipes and tune off filters ) . I will have ALOT of recipes in this software by the time I get through with it so the idea of going thru a long list is not appealing to me.
Thanks Daneen
PS Sorry if I may appear a bit "pushy" but I have Beta tested for a few different types of software companies ( not cooking related ) and am often trying to push the boundries of the software I also have an extensive list of Mastercook Recipes and I can see where your software does Bulk/freezer cooking so much better than any other software I have seen available.

Hi Daneen,

Good job taken on the metric conversions. It seems that beside metric you're the first one to notice the link between filtering on the recipes tab and the recipes presented when creating a cooking day, me included.

I see what you mean about adding the beef and then adding the chicken and all the beef go away. This is just the selector trying to do it's job. The beef are no longer on the right side of the selector and so they get removed.

I think we we need is a way to filter in the recipe selector. But that will take some work on my part.

As far as using the filter to find a word in the instructions, use the "like" operator and put percent signs around the word. Example %Mastercook%
