Assembly Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter or margarine in large microwave-safe bowl. Mix in sugars by hand. Using mixer on low, add eggs and vanilla. In separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix into sugar mixture a few cups at a time. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.

Drop dough by teaspoonful onto sprayed cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes.

*Be sure to cook these at 350 degrees. Watch them closely. Ovens vary and cookies keep cooking after they come out of the oven. I transfer them immediately to my counter top.

Freezing Directions:

You can freeze the baked cookies and/or the cookie dough. I usually do both. I bake 2 dozen for the family to eat right out of the oven. I bake another 2 dozen that I cool, package 2 to a freezer bag and freeze and then I use my cookie scoop to freeze another 2 dozen to bake later. Be sure to include directions with the frozen cookies. You never know who might be baking them at our house!

Comments:

* Note about cookie dough tasting: My kids each take a big scoopful of the dough and enjoy eating it more than they do the baked cookies. Since the butter is melted the dough is very creamy and the chocolate chips even begin to melt a bit. Yum! I know that many of you are shuddering though! Is it safe to eat raw cookie dough? Technically, no. One in every 10,000 eggs carries salmonella. If it worries you, use an egg substitute like Egg Beaters (the eggs have been pasteurized) or purchase pasteurized eggs. You run the same risk with homemade ice cream, health shakes, homemade Caesar dressing or anything else containing raw eggs.
