Tips
for Freezing Cookies
-
Cool cookies before wrapping and freezing them. This keeps ice crystals from forming. You don't want a warm cookie meeting up with cold air.
-
Wrap cookies before freezing them. Wrap one or two cookies in good quality plastic wrap and then put the wrapped cookies inside a freezer quality bag or rigid container.
-
A cold freezer is best. Zero degrees or colder and don't put the cookies in the door. It's warmer there and you'll risk ice crystals.
-
3-4 months is about the maximum. Remember nothing goes "bad" in the freezer. You just lose quality. If you plan that far ahead, you're not my friend. If you still have cookies in your freezer after 4 months, you're not my friend either.
-
Defrost cookies in the freezer packaging. That will keep the moisture on the plastic not on the cookies.
-
Freeze in the gift bag, tin or tray. If you have the room, consider packaging the cookies just the way you want to deliver them. I've found that gift tags freeze well indefinitely
