Tips for Choosing Freezer Recipes

  1. Download the free sampler from our Holiday Freezer Cooking ebook.  It includes Celebration Salad, Sweet Potato Souffle and Merry Kiss-Mousse Pie.

  2. All of the recipes in Holiday Freezer Cooking are designed for freezing, but when using your own recipes, know that most traditional Thanksgiving foods freeze fine.

  3. Sweet potatoes, bread dressing or vegetables can all be heated or cooked in a slow cooker and will free up a spot on your stove or in your oven.

  4. Meats that are covered with a sauce or broth will keep a moist texture better than those without them

  5. Avoid recipes that include: hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise based salad dressings or sauces, cooked cornstarch or flour based sauces or gravy, deep fried foods, salad vegetables, and gelatin salads that won’t be served frozen.

  6. Do not freeze stuffed poultry.  It will take too long to freeze clear to the center and may pose a hazard.
